Occupancy charges are the main method to charge a guest for additional guests if they make a reservation that includes more than your automatically included guest numbers. This can be assigned to overall unit occupancy, or it can be specific to number of Adults/Youth/Pets, if desired.

To create an occupancy charge:

  1. In the main settings cogwheel, navigate to Reservations -> Charges.

  2. Click on the Add icon in the upper right to begin creating a charge.

  3. Enter in a name for your new charge, and click Save.

  4. In the Charge settings, the first thing you'll want to do is change the charge type to "Occupancy Based":

  5. While not required, adding a charge description will help determine what charges are for what.

  6. If applicable, select the appropriate GL code out of the dropdown list.

  7. Set what date the charge should receive when being applied. Typically, you'll want either Check-in or Created.

  8. Select the Tax Code you'd like applied to this specific charge, if needed.

  9. Enter in the cost for the charge in the Base Amount box.

    1. If desired, you can also set a different amount for the charge if it's being applied to a weekly or a monthly reservation.

  10. Select your occupancy type being checked against this charge

    1. Adults/Youth/Pets

  11. If you want the charge to be included when factoring discount amounts, change the dropdown from No to Yes.

  12. If you want the charge to be applied for each night of the stay, change the Nightly Charge box from No to Yes.

  13. If the charge should be an optional charge (typically occupancy charges are not optional), change the Optional Charge dropdown from No to Yes.

  14. When everything looks good, be sure to save!
